Compression (6:21)

Compression - 1980

The B-Side to "Waiting In Line", taken from Mike's first solo album - "Small Creeps Day".

Following the mood of the album, this a very bleak track, which is heavily based around the insular nature factory work.

Lyrics

And it really doesn't matter what you say or what you do
After many years of being oh-so close, it's over

I know you know, I know
Now that I'm out in the cold with the lonely people
Darling, darling, darling, darling, darling
I never thought that I could feel so all alone
Cos I will be whatever I should be, for you

I know you know, I know
Now that I'm out in the cold with the lonely people
Darling, darling, darling, darling, darling
You know it hurts me so, to be so all alone

And though it's dark around us, I can see love in your eyes
I've covered all the angles, nothing will be a surprise

Cos I know that you know, I know you know
That everything is better in the morning
You've got to say that I, say that I
I'm really out of place

Oh, I know I'm a lucky boy
Now that I'm out in the cold with the lonely people
Darling, darling, oh darling, darling, darling
It leaves me cold to think, it's after all these years

You hear they tell me something, I can see that in your eyes
And though I've covered all the angles, will it still be a surprise
